Pipeline No. 6 Northern Reach

Ninyo & Moore provided geotechnical and materials testing services during the construction of approximately 7 miles of 10-foot diameter fabricated steel pipeline and 12-foot diameter fabricated steel pipeline, facility connections, tie-ins to existing pipelines and construction of butterfly valves. The pipeline is located within Anza Road in the southern portion of the project and a combination of unimproved roadways and undeveloped land in the northern reach. Ninyo & Moore's services during the earthwork observation and testing phase included geotechnical consultation and project management services; laboratory testing including maximum density/optimum moisture content, expansion index, direct shear, R-value, Hveem density tests, and sieve analysis; observation and testing by our technician of the fill, trench backfill, and pavement section placement; and preparation of an as-graded report presenting the results of the laboratory and field testing, and our conclusions regarding compliance of the earthwork with project specifications. Ninyo & Moore's services during the materials testing and special inspection phase included special inspection of reinforcing steel and structural concrete on an on-call basis; fabrication of representative samples for laboratory testing for concrete compressive strength; and batch plant inspections.
