Tempe Marketplace

Ninyo & Moore was retained to provide technical services for a project known as Tempe Marketplace, including geophysical surveys, geotechnical soil borings, soil test pits, geotechnical laboratory testing, environmental sampling, reporting, and contractor observation including ground vibration monitoring during our geotechnical site evaluation and the contractor's ground modification program. Our current work is related to the first phase of a Brownfield redevelopment project spearheaded by the local city municipality, which will result in over approximately 130 acres of retail and other commercial development at a site that was formerly zoned for light and heavy industrial use. This site also has a history of sand and gravel mining, which has since ceased, followed by placement of various undocumented fills and landfills at portions of the site. Ninyo & Moore coordinated existing utility clearances for planned drilling, including coordination with affected utility companies. Ninyo & Moore has provided documented health and safety plans related to the geotechnical evaluation tasks; prepared a site specific health and safety plan and related documentation for environmental drilling; reviewed a health and safety plan by a certified specialist; drafted, printed, and modified project plan sheets and figures; and provided GPS locating of boreholes, test pits, and geo-physical surveys. The end result of the project will be that Ninyo & Moore will have provided technical services on a project that will transform a recognized industrial eyesore at a high-visibility location into a developable commercial and retail site that is located near one of state's busiest freeway interchanges.
