Ninyo & Moore was retained to provide Design Concept level geotechnical engineering services for the alignment study of the planned Sonoran Parkway that will connect Interstate 17 and Cave Creek Road, near the proposed Loop 303 alignment. The purpose of our study was to research the surficial geology and associated geotechnical issues within the defined study alignments. Our services included field exploration, mapping, limited soil sampling for classification, review of selected geologic maps, soil surveys, aerial photographs, and preparation of a detailed report that provided a summary of the regional geologic setting, surface geology, groundwater, geologic hazards, potential rippability concerns, and suggested earthwork factors.
